At the start of this tender memoir of grief, author Indira describes the loss of her youngest sister to suicide as a “blinding supernova”. “You see, stars never go quietly. They suck you into their black hole.” And thus starts a reckoning with loss, life, love, and hope – a process of intentional healing through deliberate interactions with nature. The narrative skips between vignettes of the three sisters (Indira, the eldest; kind and gentle middle child Dreamgirl; and brilliant, unconventional Stargirl) and their often hilarious adventures while growing up, and Indira’s present-day quest to delve into nature’s capacity to provide solace. It is a beautifully written journey that will leave you richer for reading it.
