A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
A proverb to remind us that whilst It’s important to dream we should value what we already have. Practise gratitude as you make an origami bird to always keep in hand. Cut out your favourite supplied sheet of patterned craft paper in each issue of Mindful Puzzles, or use your own square piece of origami paper, and follow the instructions below.
1 Begin with your desired pattern face down. Valley fold the paper in half, both ways, and unfold.
2 Fold the left and right corners to the centre line along the dotted line.
3 Fold the top corner downward along the dotted line.
4 Fold the left and right along the dotted lines.
5 Fold the left and right corners along the dotted line to the centre fold, and the unfold.
6 Open the right-hand flap and fold along the dotted line.
7 Petal fold the outer right point inwards so it reaches the centre line.
8 Fold along the dotted line.
9 Repeat steps 7 and 8 on the left-hand side.
10 Fold the left and right flaps upward along the dotted line.
11 Valley fold in half.
12 Inside reverse fold the top point to create the head of the bird and cut along the dotted line marked with scissors.
13 Fold the bottom flaps upwards to create the tips of the birds wings.
