"If a woman is in good health, her family, community and the society around her also benefit.” - Dr Jean HailesMonday 4th September – Friday 8th September
As women of the world we play many roles each day, and as mother, daughter, wife, or girlfriend we make excellent nurturers. Tending to the needs of those around us comes without question, but in supporting those we love, we often neglect our own health and wellbeing. While knowing a healthy lifestyle is important barriers like ‘lack of time’ and ‘health not being a priority’ sometimes take precedence.
The Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week is an annual event that occurs nationwide, dedicated to women across Australia making good health a priority. Founded in 1992, Jean Hailes for Women’s Health reflects the enduring legacy that Dr Jean Hailes AM made to women’s health. Jean was a passionate, caring Australian General Practitioner (GP) with a vision to improve the quality of women’s lives.
There are many public Women’s Health Week events you can attend throughout the duration of the week or you can create your own! To register or to donate to the cause, visit www.womenshealthweek.com.au
Women’s Health Week is an ideal time to put ourselves first, for just one week, and start making positive changes that can last a lifetime.
