Gifting a loved one with a heartfelt, handmade message may be just the thing they need to brighten their day
It may appear at first as a simple piece of paper, but there is something special inside. When they unfold the paper, it will reveal the secret message, perfect for them to keep all to themselves. To make your own, simply cut out the patterned craft paper Issue 32 of Mindful Puzzles, or use your own square piece of origami paper, and follow the instructions below.
1 Desired pattern side down, begin by folding the paper diagonally, both ways, and unfold.
2 Bring both bottom corners to the centre, folding to meet in the middle.
3 Valley fold the top left corner to meet the right side of the paper, and quarter fold the corner out again.
4 Repeat on the right side, bringing to the left and quarter folding the corner out.
5 Valley fold each bottom side, diagonally, and fold in each top corner to form the top of the heart
6 Turn the paper over to look at the heart and write your secret message in the centre
7 Finally, fold down the top half of the heart and tuck the bottom of the heart into the small opening to ‘lock’ your message.
