Find your daily wellness routine

How to choose the best personal wellbeing routine for you!

The start of a new year is a natural time to think about your routines and whether you’re happy with them. You may start questioning your food choices or whether you really like going to the gym after all. It’s okay to step outside of the habits you’ve created and decide they aren’t right for you. But if you’re making new resolutions, why not spend some time thinking about whether your new routine is going to get you where you want to be; in a state of happy healthiness.

Truth be told, no one can tell you what’s truly right for you except for you. But there are pillars upon which you can create your ideal wellness lifestyle. Here are 3 tips to help you build a wellbeing routine that works for you.

3 Tips To finding your personal wellness routine

 1. Love what gets you moving

Forget what exercise you think you should be doing. What exercise do you want to do? After all, there’s no point going to yoga for an hour or two each week if you spend that time mentally organising your grocery list because you’re bored by sun salutations. Or going for a run if you spend the entire slog wishing you were anywhere else, doing anything else.

Just sit for a moment and ask yourself: what sport or exercise would you love to take up? Then ask yourself why you aren’t pursuing it.

 2. Eat towards your needs

How you eat and what you choose to eat can often feel like a controversial choice, with everyone weighing in on what they think is best. Why not break your diet down to your needs and your goals? For example, if you have allergies or intolerances, this is the structure around which you build your meals. Then figure out what your goals are. Do you want to stop eating too many snacks? Do you want to cut out meat or all animal products? Maybe you just want to enjoy a healthy diet that’s also delicious and satisfying.

3. Cultivate your emotional glow

There are two questions you should begin with when clarifying what improves your emotional wellbeing: How much time do you spend on self-care? And how much value do you think you get out of that time? Mindfulness, meditation, crafting, reading, gardening – the list can feel overwhelming! While all of these options are wonderful ways to care for yourself, you don’t need to do all of them. Pursue the ones that bring you joy and fit within the rhythm of your life. That can be anything from quiet time to yourself to learning a new skill to spending time with your loved ones – all the resolutions you thought you would never be able to keep.
